Dominic McCarthy

Lawrence Dominic McCarthy VC was an Australian recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.

Lawrence Dominic McCarthy was born in York, Western Australia, onJanuary 1892. The son of Florence McCarthy of Cork, Ireland, and his wife Anne , he was orphaned at a young age and was brought up in Clontarf Orphanage in Perth and educated in Catholic schools.
